Diwali Workshop for School Children

A skill based pottery workshop was organized for a group of students from Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas School located at Sector 21 Noida. The objective of the workshop was to introduce handbuilding pottery to students and train them to independently create decoration potter pieces for their upcoming Diwali exhibition in School. Children were introduced to the complete pottery process - starting from preparing clay, rolling, shaping, finishing, designing, and finally bisque firing (baking) the pottery pieces.

Every year these kids create different craft item and sell them in their Diwali exhibition. This year they chose to create terracotta pottery. Children independently created and painted various decoration items, such as lotus shaped incense stick holder, various decorative hangings, windchimes, turtle shaped candle holders and much more. Children created more than 100 items in total using terracotta clay. All these pieces were bisque fired in the upla bhatti and the results were awesome. Wish i could manage to click pic of the final exhibition day. Take a look at some of the creations of students.
Happy Claying :)
